Hot Diggity Dog!

I really enjoyed the setup of Hot Diggity Dog. You can't read it, but behind the cones on the ground is written to stand behind the cones while you are waiting for your order. This is because of Covid. During covid, food trucks have had to get creative, and I think this one is the most creative, thus far.
Besides having to stand behind the cones, I enjoyed their set up of food options on the table on the left. Hot Diggity Dog set out popular items, showing you what it looks like (I had a picture fail so that cannot make it to this post). This is what Eli is looking at. Also on this table are the different types of lemonade offered. Please note the sign, freshly squeezed!

Let's focus on this sign for a minute. This is posted right out front for everyone to see. It is not hidden. I know that some food trucks do donate a portion of their proceeds to fund raisers and other types of charities, but it is hardly advertised, unless you happen to go to a fundraiser and were told a head of time. This is a regular food truck, no fundraiser was happening and they still donate their proceeds. I want to applaud that because one, covid is happening right now and small businesses are struggling. Two, even without covid present, this is a small business and especially in the winter time, sales can be down. Three, I know that bigger business donate (but they are more stingy, trust me I did nonprofit fundraising for many years), it's these small businesses that truly make an impact in the community and we love, respect, and appreciate them more than they could ever know.

I don't know what is up with North Carolina weather, but I was told when we moved here, the weather was usually nice all year long...that was fake news because it has been cold lately! Please notice the tip jar and what it says "All I make is tips". I usually prefer cash tip, but we didn't have any cash today, so we tipped on the card.

So the table that I told you about, does not show everything. Their menu is pretty big. I would say this is the perfect menu for a party in the spring/summer when everyone is hanging outside, swimming and having fun!
We also think they are very reasonably priced....in fact, could be under charging customers on some items...but hey, if you know me, you know I am cheap so these prices alone will keep me coming back!

The first thing we ordered was a hot dog. You can add anything you want on your hot dog. Since Eli is plain and simple, he didn't get any of the fun stuff (except the jalapeños which I told the lady to add). Good news is, yes he still ate it!
The chili was nothing special and the bun was soft (which are good for hot dogs as long as they don't get to the soggy part). It didn't have anything special and tasted like your normal chili dog. If we had not looked at the samples first, we would have thought it was too small, but that's us just wanting more!

These are their chili cheese fries...I hope you could figure that out by the picture! Same chili, canned cheese and fries. This is the only time I will eat soft fries! We love chili cheese fries. Normally we have them with grated cheese, so this was different using the cheese sauce. This is the first time we had them and they weren't homemade (I mean from me). Eli was partial to the cheese sauce, but I liked it! In fact, I thought I need some tortilla chips to add with it!

These are their chicken wings. We were told they only have one flavor, buffalo. These chicken wings were not spicy and almost tasted like the sweet and spicy sauce by Sweet Baby Ray's. It was not full of sauce, which Eli didn't mind, but I have said before, I like my chicken wings to have sauce. But I will say, these were nice and crispy and usually adding a lot of sauce can tone down the crispy and lets face it....nobody likes that!
The fries though....guess what? Nice and crispy and well seasoned! Eli liked them too and we did not need the ketchup they provided to us! This combo here, we really enjoyed.
We also ordered two of the fresh squeezed lemonade drinks. They are 32 oz. I ordered blueberry and Eli ordered mango.
The blueberry was way too sweet! I could taste the lemon, but not as strong as I hoped given the sign said fresh squeezed. It didn't taste like fresh blueberries either, but they didn't post that was fresh. However, they did put real, whole blueberries in the drink with a slice of lemon. You can't see that though until the ice starts melting.
The mango lemonade was good. I did not think it was overly sweet. I still couldn't taste a lot of the fresh squeezed lemonade, but we felt this one was better than the blueberry one. This one too had pieces of mango and a slice of lemon in it.

Last but not least, their punch card...or for them its a stamp card. Every time you eat from them, you get a stamp on the back of your card. Once you have 10, you turn it in for a free hot dog, chips and a drink! I almost left without this! Can you believe it? Me, let something go that could get me free food! Heaven forbid...thank goodness the lady was like "oh wait, wait" and handed it to me!
As far as the rating, we were torn between 2 but in the end, there was nothing really that special. You know, something you bite into and you're like, why have I not had this in my life? Will we go again? Yes! It was not gross and we like the fact about donating proceeds. Here is their facebook page so you can check them out and their website page, so you can check them out. #foodtruckmania
